EDI began in 2011 as an online effort to delve into what the research is telling us about recovery from eating disorders.

Gwyneth Olwyn has fifteen years’ experience in the mental health and healthcare fields, working in tertiary complex mental health care facilities and leading patient care quality reviews for the Ministry of Health in British Columbia, Canada.

Her interest in eating disorders arose when she noticed those with the condition were being advised to continue restricting food intake and to exercise under the guise that these behaviors were health protective. Thus began a multi-year deep dive into the published research to arrive at a treatment protocol primarily designed for adults in community: the Homeodynamic Recovery Method (HDRM). While eating disorders remain of unknown etiology and refractory in nature, remission is possible.
